To allow people who want to be known by any honorifics to be correctly addressed (e.g. Dr.)

To allow us to contact you in case of emergency or problem with your entry

To allow us to identify whether or not players are Welsh resident, and thus eligible for “Welsh” prizes. Also required for rating publication.

To allocate junior prizes. It is also a FIDE requirement for FIDE-rated events that we report dates of birth.

To allow us to verify your FIDE number so that your results are attributed to the correct person when sent to FIDE.

To allow us to verify whether or not a player is eligible to compete in a particular section (e.g. a rating-restricted section), Particularly for players who are outside Wales.

Games will be converted to electronic format and stored as part of the South Wales International and Welsh Chess Union's Games Databases. Results, including names, country and clubs, will be published on the tournament website, chess-results.com and the WCU website.

It is a FIDE requirement for FIDE-rated events that we report the player’s Federation. We also use this data for the allocation of some prizes

As well as this data, SWI may publish photographs and videos, taken at the event, on this web site. Please contact Kevin Staveley if you DO NOT wish be included.
